NSW Fair Trading Assistant Commissioner, Andrew Gavrielatos, has stated that NSW will look to either improve clarity around written price estimates or will follow in the foot steps of Queensland who recently adopted the practice of not giving price estimates.

Mr Gavrielatos has stated that the Real Estate and Property Division of NSW Fair Trading, of which he is head, will work over the coming weeks on new legislation that the state government would seek to pass in time for Spring.

In NSW there has been 213 complaints about underquoting over the past year, which is an increase of 25%.

Minister responsible for NSW Fair Trading, Victor Dominello, announced new guidelines to tackle underquoting in may this year.
